The Awatere Valley’s founding winery was purchased just over a year ago by California-based Foley Family Wines but the change of ownership doesn’t appear to have impacted on the quality or style of the wines made by this impressive winery. Pure and beautifully taut wine with appealing fruity acidity. Strong mineral salts with gooseberry, nettle and hints of tomato leaf. A suggestion of sweetness is perfectly balanced by fine acidity to give a bone dry finish. This is a classic example of the Awatere Valley by a winery that sets a strong pace for others in the district.
