Two Gates Omahu Gimblett Gravels Hawke's Bay NZ 2007

5 Star Rating
93/100 55
A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. High fermentation temperatures and an extended post-fermentation maceration on the skins for 28 days with the goal of gentle extraction of tannins and colour. Dense, dark red with intense sweet fruit balanced by fine, ripe tannins. A little locked-in at this stage but showing a pleasing array of dark fruits, licorice, star anise and spicy oak flavours. Organic wine from the Gimblett Gravels district. Can be appreciated now but has impressive potential.
