Dense yet supple red with an impressive array of red and black berry, cracked pepper, new leather, bacon fat and classy French oak flavours. The texture is even more impressive with fine tannins that seem to have silken coating of alcohol and glycerol to give a remarkably smooth backbone to this generous red wine. This is the best Waiheke Syrah I’ve tasted, by a narrow margin from Passage Rock Reserve. A lingering finish is almost infinite - I’m sure I could still taste it the following day.
