90/100 45
Produced from Spy Valley’s own vineyard planted in moderately rich (by Marlborough standards) soils. Grapes were hand picked and a portion was fermented in a large German oak oval with the remainder in old French oak barriques. After ageing on lees for 7 months, the wine was blended and bottled. An initial impression of sweet stewed apple and pear is modified by fine tannins to give a rather dryer finish that shows a little clove/spice character. Concentrated and complex Pinot Gris
