“M3” refers not to a model of BMW driven by Shaw or Smith but to the three different Chardonnay clones used in this wine. An intense wine with subtle power and impressive complexity. It shows the textural benefits of a wine made from grapes that were hand picked and whole bunch pressed. It also shows sensitive winemaking skills with barrel fermenation and other winemaking characters that add to the wine’s appeal without being very obvious. Sophisticated Australian Chardonnay from a cool-ish winegrowing area.
