Saint Clair Pioneer Block 19, Bird Block Marlborough NZ Sauvignon Blanc 2010

5 Star Rating
93/100 55
Named after the vineyard owners, Bob and Gill Bird, the wine is a product of the much-prized (by Saint Clair) heavy soils once regarded as unsuited to high quality Sauvignon Blanc production. An intense and quite interesting style with strong minerality, boxwood and citrus/grapefruit flavours contrasting with equally strong passion fruit characters. Powerful Sauvignon Blanc with a lingering finish. An attention-grabbing wine that makes a strong statement.
