Main Divide Pokiri Reserve Late Picked Waipara NZ Pinot Gris 2009

5 Star Rating
93/100 55
Vines grown in clay/limestone soils on an elevated Waipara vineyard were allowed an extended period of ripening until the grapes had turned to raisins. They were hand-harvested at 15.5 Beaume. Rich, spicy and comparatively complex wine in an Alsace Vendage Tardive style. Creamy-textured wine with very concentrated tree and exotic fruit flavours but still with a fine thread of mineral character. A luscious and moderately sweet wine that is certainly not cloying.
