In a blind tasting I would pick this wine as a robust Pinot Noir, and not a bad one at that. It certainly displays the velvety richness and elegance of Pinot Noir rather than favoring the more rustic characters of its other parent Cinsault. Ripe plum, spice and classy oak are the most obvious flavours but they are supported by many more subtle nuances. Beautifully structured red with good development potential. Quite possibly the best Pinotage ever made in New Zealand.
