Kaituna Valley The Kaituna Vineyard Canterbury NZ Pinot Noir 2003

This Canterbury wine earns a place on my short list partly because it is produced from grapes grown in New Zealand’s oldest pinot Noir vineyard (over 25 years). Old vines, in this case at least, have produced a very dense and complex wine with slightly funky funky flavours that include smoky bacon, licorice, spice and annise. Rich with a soft texture.
