Huia Blanc de Blanc Marlborough NZ 2004

4 Star Rating
87/100 45
100% Chardonnay fermented and aged in old oak barriques and bottled after full malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged en tirage for three-and-a half years before being hand-riddled and disgorged. Strongly yeasty, developed wine suggesting it might have been recently disgorged. An intense, bready sparkler with surprising weight and power. A lot of yeast autolysis is evident although primary fruit flavours of peach, apple and citrus are also quite pronounced.
