Central Otago winemakers describe 2002 as “an American Vintage” while 2003 is “an English Vintage”. Wines from 2002 tend to be voluptuous fruit bombs while 2003 wines are leaner with more structure. Felton Road’s Block 3 is a classic example of an Englishman’s wine. A moderately dense Pinot Noir with red cherry, spice and plum flavours supported by stemmy tannins. It shows excellent cellaring potential.
