Lush, fleshy, concentrated and complex red that’s a clever blend with one-quarter Cabernet Sauvignon adding a touch of real class to the softer, smoother, richer and slightly rustic Merlot/Malbec component. This label must surely be one of New Zealand’s most decorated blended reds. Once clearly ahead of the pack it has maintained quality as the pack has gradually caught up to it. This example from the excellent 2005 vintage is one of the best yet.
