Deutz put quality sparkling wine on the map in NZ and to that extent it helps to define a national style - which is lightly fruity (citrus/lemon) with subtle bready autolysis characters - although the gap between it and champagne seems to narrow with each vintage. It has an ethereal texture and lengthy finish suggesting power delivered with some finesse.
