Church Road’s flagship label is made from a small selection of the company’s very large grape production. The wine then gets the full Rolls Royce treatment to justify its exalted status. I have criticised some past examples for being excessively oaky but the balance of oak to fruit in this wine is perfect. It’s a bold, long-lived and complex red that supports the premise that big can also be very good indeed.
